Day 1: Self Portraits in Santorini

I chose to talk a picture at this location because I feel like it fits who I am as a person and how I choose to live my life. I tend to look toward the past to influence my future. This is why the background is clearer than the foreground. The past is something I know, it's clear to me; while the future, what I'm looking off at, is less clear. I wanted to blur myself, as well, because I still haven't fully figured who I am. In my mind, I am still a little blurry. I chose the pink flowers because I love nature photographs and because I love pink! The door goes back to my original idea of the past and the present. I really wanted a door behind me because I see my past actions and decisions as doorways to the future me, who I am excited (smiling) to meet.

This is the other style of self-portrait I chose because I wanted to accent my eyes, my freckles, and my red hair. My eyes are what I consider my most distinguishing feature. People comment on them all the time. Same with my red hair. In this photo I am not looking at those who have noticed my eyes, but at myself. I'm trying to say it's ok to be who I am naturally and embrace the features I am given. I chose a green door for the background with the intention of it serving as a compliment to my red hair.
